NSASA OAU VP SENDS MESSAGE TO NSASAITES AS THEY RESUME

Infallibility is the sole attribute of God, as man's fallibility continues to soar to the high heavens. No matter how hard mortals try to reaching the status of perfection, a much more than sufficiently enough vistas of doors of imperfection await one. Hence, our strivings, successes and triumphs are attained through God's grace.

I am most delighted in welcoming my colleagues; Junior and Senior to another Semester. First and Foremost, I give thanks and honour to Almighty God for his innumerable blessings and protections over us all as well as the accomplishment of the previous semester and starting another semester. It is another phase of this session which is full of ups and downs as well as various activities starting from Academic Activities, Fun/Social Activities, Religious Activities, and Political Activities. I would like to say a little on these activities.

Academic Activities
As the Vice President, most of my constitutional duties lies in the academic aspect. I have always stated that we all are in Obafemi Awolowo University for the sole purpose of academics. This has brought us all together. Therefore, let us not derail from this purpose. Do not let any activity make you deviate from your purpose of being on this campus. However, this does not mean you should not engage yourself in other activities such as learning a new Skill, Professional Programs, Fun and others. Just be wise about it. Also, we should note that there are various types of lecturers with their own styles. Please let's try as much as possible to apply to all the rules and regulations given in class. It is advisable that you know your lecturers. Some loves writing of notes in Exams while some don't. Am sure by now, some of us already know the type of Lecturers we have. For others, such as Junior colleagues who do not know, please meet with senior colleagues to understand the lecturers in the department. It is my prayer that we all will be favoured this semester.

Social Activities
There would be lots of social activities this semester. These activities would be organised by the department, the school as well as other personal or general gatherings. Please, do not hesitate to have the fun you can.

The but in this is to know what you are doing. Please, let us all turn up for all activities that the department would be organising.. This is one way we all can contribute to the strengthening of the unity and cooperation in the department.

Religious Activities
Whoever it is that we believe has been the source of our success so far, let's strive to continue worshiping who, where, and how we want to. But, set your priorities right. Don't let us be among those who claim to worship God, yet, our hearts are far from him. It is my prayer that whoever we believe in sees us through to the end. The departmental fellowship would be glad to see our faces every Friday.

Political Activities
Every Second Semester is known for this activity. It is imperative we note that If we fail to challenge ourselves and this present state we are in the department, the generation to come would have to live in a chaotic department. If we lax down and fail to act on our dreams, we would continue in a reverie, just to wake up to find the department in a messed up condition than it was before we closed our eyes. Humans by nature are driven primarily by desires and instincts. The satisfaction of the carnal self is a lure that is very difficult to fight; the quest for power, greed and every lustful yearning amidst our indifference to the effect of our actions and our obsession with ego. We have been gradually transformed into monsters that act only on the principle of greed and self interest. We must change our ways of living in order to pull through. Also, to create a path towards a better department, we must work hard and consider what unifies us to be stronger than the forces of our diversity in the four arms we have in the department which are the Executive, Parliamentary, Judicial, as well as other Students. Participation from authoritative and non-authoritative personnel will be greatly required. We have to build up ties, friendship and love among ourselves, before we can progress. It is not too late to make our motto in our hearts to be 'peace and unity'. We have to restore our ethics to prevent further moral decay that is working amidst us. It is high time we challenged ourselves; it is high time we stopped agonizing and start organizing for effective change. If you know that you are capable of vying for a post for the betterment of the department, please do, and if otherwise, please stay still. Let's assist the present executives in anyway we can do. It is pertinent to know that payment of annual due is important. Let us pay if we have,so as to assist the executives. Lastly on this, let us vote wisely.

The great change that we want can be seen in our ways of thinking, reasoning, doing things, and our interactions with others. With this, we are on the path to actualising our dreams for the department.

Lastly, May God help us all. Your cooperation would be highly appreciated. Class of Intellectuals, you have been awesome, please continue in that spirit of peace and unity.
Class of Achievers, you have been helpful in your ways, please continue in that spirit of improvement.
Class of Bravuras, you have been wonderful, please continue in that spirit of togetherness.
Class of Elites, you have been helpful with your advise and love to your junior colleague. Please continue in that spirit of love...

Ones again, I welcome us all to this Semester

God Bless Us All

WHY I LOVE YOU

I never can tell
Why I love you,
I can't give any reason,
Why I love you,
I can't even explain,
How "just", she solved it,
Breaking my "barriers" of love,
My love for skimpy girls,
Fair and tall girls with talented voices are unlimited,
She just came in with more and many more,
She's busty, Blackie and brilliant,
I never can tell with the way I love her,
I can't explain  how she found her way into my way,
Its unexplainable,
Knowing fully well of my taste of love,
For fair and skimpy girls,
I can't explain why I love you,
A single smile of hers,
Can whoop my whole bank account,
A wink of hers' can command so many things,
I  never can tell, with the way I loved her,
I sincerely can explain,
How I came about her love.
All I can say is that I love you.

Man Utd on verge £40m Perisic deal

The Red Devils are close to agreeing a fee with Inter which would bring the Croatian wide man to Old Trafford

Manchester United are on the verge of signing Inter winger Ivan Perisic for a fee of £40.4 million.

The Croatian has been the subject of a lengthy pursuit by Jose Mourinho’s side this summer, but the two clubs have been unable to come to an agreement regarding a transfer fee.

United had initially hoped to use Inter’s desperation to meet Financial Fair Play commitments in order to price away the 28-year-old for a fee of around £26.4m, but after the Nerazzurri were able to raise the funds elsewhere the Reds lost their leverage.

Perisic remains keen to leave San Siro for the Premier League and ordered his agent to do everything necessary to force through a deal with United.

The player himself has also made his disaffection known to his employers, with his decision to make himself unavailable for the recent friendly with Nuremberg because of toothache believed by many to have been an overt message to the Inter board.

And now United are ready to tie up a deal, with Mourinho keen to get his two remaining summer targets through the door sooner rather than later. However, the Portuguese said on Friday that he understands why things are tough for executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward when it comes to negotiations.

United have already signed defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic also a target.

Bakayoko and Rudiger out of Chelsea squad to face Arsenal

The Blues' new signings will make
their fans wait as the pair are unavailable to face their London rivals in their first public pre-season match

Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger are unavailable to face Arsenal in Beijing in the International Champions Cup as Chelsea jet out to the Chinese city, Goal understands.

Rudiger will return for the matches in Singapore and he will make his debut against either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan, but Bakayoko is injured

Eden Hazard is also not fit to play after suffering a fractured ankle while on duty with Belgium, and he is a doubt for the start of the Premier League season.

Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa will also be left out of the tour with their futures at the club in doubt, and the likes of Nathan Ake, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah will replaced by players who were on loan at other clubs last season.

Mario Pasalic, Lewis Baker, Jeremie Boga, Loic Remy and Andreas Christensen are among the names that will jet out to Asia - after a week back in training with their parent club this week at Cobham Training Centre.

Chelsea face Arsenal on July 22 in Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium, before facing Bayern Munich and Inter in Singapore on July 25 and July 29 respectively. They will then return to England to compete in the Community Shield against Arsenal after winning the Premier League title last season.

Nigeria needs Repackaging not Restructuring: Rochas Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has rejected calls for the restructuring of the country, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has rejected calls for the restructuring of the country, insisting that what Nigeria needs is repackaging to enable it to compete favourably on the international stage .

Okorocha, who noted that each of the geopolitical zones in the country had different understanding of the term restructuring, argued that Nigeria
was better as a united country.

The governor spoke on Monday while declaring open the 67th annual conference of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria held in Imo State .

He said , “ Every geopolitical zone has its own interpretation of restructuring. To the South -East, restructuring means creation of an additional state. For the South -South , restructuring means resource control. For the South - West, it means devolution of power and the North may see it differently, but whatever is the case , we are better off as a united Nigeria . ”

He called on the BON and the media in general to project the country to the outside world in positive light , adding that Nigeria had the needed potential to attract foreign investment.
Okorocha said , “ Our nation requires repackaging . It is unfortunate that a great nation like ours has not been properly packaged for consumption by the international community . Yet, there are more evils in other nations than we have in Nigeria but the reports going out about our country is such that no one will want to come into Nigerian unless for those who want to take risks. No nation can grow with this arrangement . I want to charge you today, as you meet , think Nigeria and see how you can repackage it. We are not the worst of them all .

“ I call on all Nigerians that this is a period to dramatise and demonstrate patriotism which is anchored on the spirit of sacrifice. We must accept the fact that this nation belongs to us and we do not have any other nation on the face of the earth outside Nigeria . So , it’ s incumbent on us to fix Nigeria and make it better not only for us but for generations yet unborn.

“ You have a role to play . The news we have about our country outside Nigeria is not a good one and that has , in many ways , discouraged our investors. This is the time to speak less of the ugly situation we go through ; this is the time to speak more about the potential in Nigeria . People keep destroying this country by what they say . Therefore , today, my plea would be to the national body that you get a space in your programme titled, Repackaging Nigeria for the Better. ” that what Nigeria needs is repackaging to enable it to compete favourably on the international stage .

Fayose had initially said he would approach the Supreme Court to determine his eligibility to run again for the office of governor of his state because of his inability to complete his first term in office .

The governor , whose impeachment then had been declared null and void by the Supreme Court , had said there was need to finish his first four years in office .

Fayose , who is the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum , was one of the two governors in the party who spoke vehemently against the continued stay in office of the former National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff .

Ironically , the governor was also among the few governors who brought the former governor of Borno State to the office of the national chairman of the former ruling party.

The PDP had zoned the position of the party’ s presidential candidate to the northern part of the country .

The three organs of the party, which are the Expanded National Caucus, Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee, met in Abuja in Monday . The meeting continues on Tuesday ( today) .

OFFICIAL: Chelsea Signs Bakayoko

Chelsea have signed midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from French champions Monaco in a reported £40m deal

The 22-year-old France international has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions.
He becomes Chelsea's second major summer signing after they brought in defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma.
Bakayoko joined Monaco from Ligue 1 rivals Rennes in 2014 and made his France debut in a friendly defeat by Spain in March this year.
He was part of the Monaco squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, going out of the competition to Juventus.
Bakayoko, who will wear the number 14 shirt at Chelsea, said: "I am very happy to be here and to join this great team.
"I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood.

"I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach [Antonio Conte] and alongside so many great team-mates."

A Dream Experience And Its Impressions 1

Written by: Timilehin Ogundipe

Last night's dream was awfully unusual
Some thing I rarely have experienced
Death and destruction not of Nature's
But the casualties caused by humans.
Heartless, robot like cruel humans.
Striking adults with black cannons
Smashing babies like clay figures.
Body parts scattered every where.
Amid all that chaos stood my frozen, cold face, statue like figure
Devoid of any grief or sadness
Or the slightest frantic awareness.
Though in all honesty I should have been
Trembling and moaning with eyes closed
Unable to wake up from that horrible dream
But nothing like that of sort happened.
Waking consciousness took over eventually
Reconstructing the dream I became fearful
Recollecting my frozen icy expression
How should I think of that mental regression.
Does it resemble our mostly quiet life style
Partly brought upon with advancing years
Where deprived of new life adventures
Calm mind descends into eon collections.
Free and unhindered plays in its own scenarios
Or is it that I have become immune to suffering
Death, destruction, gunshots and bomb blasts
All kind of horror acts known for happenings.
It causes no emotional disturbance or
Personal impact when seen from a distance
Is it emotional maturity or lack of empathy?
A horrible state of mind to be in certainly.
To lose compassion for pain and suffering!
To become a neutral witness of dying babies!
Oh! Lord! Please never never let me become
Such a person not even in my dreams.
Let me remain a human with a grieving heart,
Extending a helping hand whenever I could,
Let me not be without the love and empathy
That connects us all from farthest of distance.
Let this dream not be the indication of what
Lies there beyond the time called golden years
When life transforms me into a heartless
Stone cold figure in a fragile cage of bones.
